I live in Nevada—amid
the dry desert sagebrush and the lush beauty of the Sierra
Nevada Mountains. Yes, the scenery will "astound and
amaze."
I met my husband Steve, when he had just started graduate
school. Two weeks later, we were engaged to be married. That
was twenty-seven years ago and we're still crazy about each
other. Yep! We firmly believe in love at first sight.
My husband and I are the proud parents of two wonderful children;
a son and a daughter. Our daughter is a chef extroardinaire
and one of the smartest things I ever did (other than marry
Steve) was to teach her to cook. My son is a U.S. Marine.
He and his wife have provided one of my favorite hobbies—two
beautiful granddaughters. I've decided being a granny is payback
for raising such great kids. I've never had so much fun!
My major in college was History. Although my husband holds
a juris doctorate and a Ph.D., we both love learning so much
that we tend to find "just one more" class we want
to take. Sometimes, we take classes together and we enjoy
studying everything from world politics to astronomy. At this
rate, we’ll both be hobbling to class with walking sticks
before we're through.
I've worked outside the home for most of my adult life, but
writing has always been a huge part of my spare-time activities.
I wrote my first full-length novel on a typewriter, back when
they still made carbon paper and 8-track tapes. I had no outline
and no clue what I was doing. Since then, I have gone on to
complete numerous novels and was published in short fiction
in 1994. I did the research and wrote an extensive article
on the Golden Heart Contest, the most prestigious contest
an unpublished romance novelist can enter. Titled The
Golden Heart: Not for the Fainthearted,
the article was published in RWA's Romance Writer's Report
in June 2004. I won the Golden Heart for best Inspirational
in 2006 and sold the book titled THE
HEALING PLACE to Steeple Hill with a December
2007 release. My books have won and finaled in numerous national
writing contests, including the Orange Rose (Orange Rose RWA
2003), the Finally A Bride (OKRW 2005), and the Duel on the
Delta (River City RWA 2006).
In addition to family, work, and writing, my husband and
I are busy in a multitude of church activities and I am still
taking classes and a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor
Society.
