In June 2006, my
husband and I traveled to Europe to celebrate our 25th wedding
anniversary. Following are just a few of the 3,000 pictures
we took while there. We traveled to France and the UK, then
toured New York City and spent the Fourth of July in Boston,
MA before flying home. Enjoy!

The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. Yes, we went
all the way to the top! |
.
A beautiful stained glass window from the York
Minster Abbey. |

And what trip to London is complete without
Big Ben?
|

Chepstow Castle, Wales. One of my favorite
castles. My great-grandfather Roger Bigod III ruled here at
one time.
|
Chepstow Castle, Wales. I was intrigued by this
gated doorway. I could imagine all sorts of stories and the
people who stepped over its threshold. |

St. Margaret's Chapel, Edinburgh Castle, Scotland.
Another of my favorite places. The structure is almost untouched
after centuries of time. |

Right where I belong, next to Steve. Together
forever. |
Hermitage Castle, Scotland. It is just as austere
and forbidding as its reputation claims. The little gnats almost
ate us alive and we looked like we had the measels by the time
we left. |
The Rosetta Stone in the British Museum. |
Me with my daughter and husband at Mont St. Michel,
France. It's a history buff's dream and one of my favorite places
in the whole world. |
Ellis Island, New York. We spent the Fourth of
July in and around New York City, Boston, and Concord and Lexington.
My husband found his grandfather's records here at Ellis Island
from when he came over from England as a ten-year old boy. |
The Old State House in Boston, MA, where the
U.S. Declaration of Independence was read to the public for
the first time and has been read every Fourth of July since.
|
The Fairbanks House in Dedham, MA. Built in 1636,
this is the oldest timber frame house still standing in the
U.S. My great-great-grandfathers lived here and it was a thrill
to see it. |
Believe it or not, the front car in this photo
with the flag is Queen Elizabeth of England! The Changing
of the Guard at Buckingham Palace was ending and we were leaving
to catch a Taxi. A whistle blew, and out she came in her car,
waving to everyone. It happened so fast, we almost didn't
get a picture.
|
We saw this billboard in Dedham, MA, and had
to take a picture. We thought it fitting since we were celebrating
our 25th and my husband's name is also Steve!
